Pinehurst Resort already has nine top quality 18-hole golf courses and is adding a tenth.
The North Carolina resort, which has hosted the U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open, PGA Championship and Ryder Cup in the past, said Wednesday it will build an additional golf course that it plans to open when the U.S. Open returns in 2024. Tom Doak, who has designed courses such as Pacific Dunes in Oregon and Ballyneal in Colorado, will be the primary architect of the new course.

“This place is topographically unique and very different from anywhere else in Pinehurst,” says Doak. “It’s bigger, bolder, more dramatic. It’s going to be an unforgettable experience for golfers.” pic.twitter.com/cWbS9K25bM

No. 10 is located approximately four miles from Pinehurst’s main clubhouse.
In a release posted on Pinehurst’s website, Doak said, “This location is topographically unique and very different from the rest of Pinehurst.
“It’s bigger, bolder, more dramatic. There’s an elevation change of about 75 feet, and it goes to about the halfway point of the layout. From this apex, you have a vast view over the rest of the area.” It will be an unforgettable experience for golfers.”
