With all the changes and narrowing events in place for the 2023 PGA Tour schedule, a few things were a little confusing. At least for Adam Scott.
After a back-to-back start to 2023 in Hawaii, Scott said he plans to return to his home in Australia after finishing T21 at the Sony Open, taking about a month off. I said I’ll be back for the Genesis Invitational that day.
“I just practice at home and relax a little bit,” Scott said.
A new designated event has brought a little clarity to the schedules of many of golf’s top stars. In particular, in February and March he will have four designated events in five weeks and the Players will culminate in his championship. But it also makes scheduling out of the week a bit harder.
Players may skip 1 of 17 designated events before being counted towards the PIP bonus money. Scott will be out of his WM Phoenix Open (where he played for the first time last year), which starts 4-5. – Weekly execution of specified events. A week later is Genesis.
But Scott, announced on monday As a new member of the PGA Tour’s Player Advisory Board, it wasn’t really meant to be this way. He blamed it on the confusion over the new schedule.
“I don’t have a good reason for you,” said the 42-year-old.
Until last year, the Phoenix Open was held a week before the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. With the Super Bowl moved a week later, Pebble and Phoenix swapped schedule locations, so the Phoenix event stayed on Super Bowl weekend.
Of course, it’s never too late to change Scott’s schedule, but he seems happy with his travel schedule as it is.
“For me, who hasn’t been home for two and a half years, I think it’s too good to spend a little time at home in Australia, so it’s nice to spend an extra week.
